RARE ANTIQUE WHITE CORAL CAMEO, DIANA

Quite a rare find, an antique Victorian period cameo of white coral. White and pink-
white coral was so rare by the late 1800s, most carvers switched in conch shell. But
this is the real thing, so sumptuous and rich, with a nicely dimensional depiction of
Diana, goddess of the hunt. She had a secondary role as defender of children. Here’s
she’s seen with her signature symbols, the crescent moon and a quiver of arrows.
Lovely three-quarter turn, with full shoulder and gently draped gown. Complex hair
with a combination of gentle waves, corkscrew curls and squiggles. Bezel set in
unique frame with open border set with circle and curved shaped accents.
Tested 10K rose gold. Because of coloring it's hard to get a great photo,
but looks so beautiful in person.
Divine!
