Description
Original early-1850s sixth-plate daguerreotype of a wagon being pulled by two horses and a man standing on the runner. On the side of the wagon is a sign (see image #3 where I have enlarged and reversed it) that appears to say "C. Dav___n Killer".While researching this image I found a Charles Davidson Killer living in Placer, California in 1852, working as a blacksmith. This could definitely be him!
Great street scene. Also notice the crooked tree on the left side,
and the shadow it's casting onto the dirt road, and the houses/storefronts in the background.
This dag is in
excellent, undamaged condition
.
THERE ARE NO SWIPES
. In pic one, those reflections are on the glass. It has been sealed with archival tape, and most or all of the original seals are inside of the case in bits. It it housed in its original leather case - a rare case actually - orange in color with a birdbath scene on its covers. Case is in decent, complete condition with expected wear; the covers are separated along the spine.
