    Description

This may be of interest to Daguerreotype collectors.  This came from the estate of a long-time photographer and Dag collector.  This is a German print of a 1840s satire cartoon that poked fun of the French.  The gist makes fun of "Claude", a painter that sleeps...all he does is with his box, he just adjusts the lens, sets the clock and takes a nap.  When he wakes up the work of art is already in the box...that art is created by a sleeping artist.  This print is on a mat, it measures 8.5 x 11 and on a thicker mat.  I will include the translation letter as well.  It appears to be in good shape, but I do see one paper loss spec on the bottom left-hand side.  Enjoy!

Note: I looked at this with a loop and this print does have age and the paper has fibers. But based on the ink, I believe this is a later reprint. Thanks much.
