    Description

Victorian Cameo Brooch. Amazing carved Victorian brooch made around the 1830s to 1850s. It depicts a beautiful portrait of a greek young lady. The execution of the shell is amazing, and the relief helps to add details and dimension to the design. The frame is a pinchbeck (Pinchbeck is a form of brass, an alloy of copper and zinc, mixed in proportions so that it closely resembles gold in appearance. It was invented in the 18th century by Christopher Pinchbeck, a London clockmaker) with beautiful details and embossed designs. The pin back is secure, and a hinged pin locks on a simple "C" clasp closure. This is a really beautiful cameo that will be admired for years to come! It is in excellent pre-owned condition.
    A gorgeous vintage cameo brooch with a nice size, measuring approximately ~ 2" (~51.4mm) x ~ 1.6" (~41.3mm)
I can suppose that the cameo frame is not original and that the cameo was inserted into this frame later.
The frame for the cameo is very old and has signs of age. The cameo itself is in amazing condition and has no cracks or chips.
This is the perfect gift for yourself or someone special!
