    Description

    Amazing Civil War Photograph
    The USS Galena was a wooden-hulled broadside ironclad built for the United States Navy during the American Civil War. Completed in 1862.  She supported Union forces at the Peninsula Campaign and was damaged during the Battle of Drewry's Bluff. She participated in the Battle of Mobile Bay and the siege of Fort Morgan in August 1864.
